Adam beautiful Box!

One question did you dry the amboya first? I find that it moves and cracks on me so I have to turn it twice.

Bob, I rough-turned the box and DNA soaked it for a day or two, then wrapped it in paper for a week, then unwrapped and dried another three weeks.

No cracks.

I did another box that did develop a small crack, but it mostly turned out and was filled with CA.

Adam.....Gorgeous box.....I really like the over all form and the details you added are just right....simple so as to let the beauty of the wood be the star of the show! Well done!

Nice turning. I'm unfamilar with the wood. Can some one explain the source?

Richard,
Someone correct my if I am wrong but it is the burl off the Nara tree, the nara wood itself is pretty. Most of the time it sales for $20 per lb but can be found for $12. I like afzelia burl which looks simalar and cost the same but always seems drier and lighter so it really cost less and has nevered cracked or warpped on me. I have a very pretty amboya peppermill I need to finish buff I and will post soon.
