A good friend made the call that many of us get about a tree they just took down, did we want the lumber.....

Usually is not worth it but this time it might be. She said it's a 15" diameter Walnut log about 11 feet long. What do y'all think? I'd get the log for free but I'd have topay a woodmizer guy to cut it up? It's out in the country a bit so it's not an urban tree per se but it's been in their yard for as long as they have lived there, 30 years.

Anyone know a good Indy sawyer?

Well Never mind! I went for a drive and stopped by to see this log. It was maybe 10" across with 6" of heartwood so not worth the effort. Oh well I didn't need to spend time and effort on another project.

I hear stories like this all the time from my partner who is out there scrounging logs daily. We've gotten calls from TREE SERVICES who confuse diameter with circumference and walnut with elm. You are lucky it was even a walnut!

Still, good on ya for chasing the lead.
