Hi guys! Just thought you might wanna see the mill that I built from scratch. I had all the steel given to me by a neighbor who just wanted it gone and the kicker is that he is also a tree surgeon and will be supplying me with all the wood I want. The last little picture is my first victim. A 20" holly. Please excuse the mess in the back ground. We're doing a lot of remodeling.

Oh well! I don't know why I have problems posting pictures in the body. Maybe a Mod could fix it for me.:D

I copy and pasted the individual links. Looks real nice. You put a lot of work into it. Do you push the saw through the wood and the expanded metal to the left is for walking on while doing it?

Kurt, looks great !, what is the cc of your saw ? are you running a ripping chain ? what type ?, how long did it take to make each pass on the holly (approx ft per minute) ?

sorry for all the questions, but this really interests me.

thanks for posting -

Howie

I'm impressed. That's really cool. Milling your own lumber has a feel-good quality about it. Nice work!

I guess that i'm running about 5' per minute. As far as the chain it's Oregon ripping chain and the saw is a 066 and I think it's around 100cc. If your interested check out Procut saw mills. That's where I got all my info from. Thanks for the kind words.

Very ingenuitive! I especially like how you connected the two depth adjusters with that chain and idler. That would be a real workout doing them seperately. And its all on a "mobile base", sweet. I'm sure you could re-coup some of the costs cutting for people at their homes.

Here are the pictures...

Looks kind of neat and I would love to see it in action. Lot of work went into it, it looks like.
I love it when someone takes a hand full of nothing and comes up with something like this.
