I'm lookin' to get some flexible African Mahogany veneer from Rocker. They have 'plain slice' and 'ribbon slice'. I think I know what 'plain slice' is because I usually buy my hardwood plywood as plain slice. But what is 'ribbon slice'?

thanks in advance...Jeff :)

The stuff I've gotten is sliced from a quarter sawn section, not very wide, but interesting rays and flecks and such.

"Ribbon sliced" is just something they made up. Plain sliced veneer, you know. "Ribbon" refers to a type of figure exhibited by some mahogany species when it is quarter or rift sliced. So "Ribbon sliced" would imply that it is quarter or rift cut mahogany with a ribbon figure.
