Have any of you tried this stopper? What do you think of it if you did. Just for the record I have nothing to do with these, just came across them.

I agree with Paul. I make quite a few stoppers and I have switched over to Ruth Niles product. They are very user friendly and really compliment your turning.
Just my humble opinion.

Bob's stopper is a pretty clever design. I have a couple but haven't turned one yet. This mechanism allows you to tighten a rubber cork inside the bottle. You can actually invert a bottle without any spilling.

Dennis I have seen that one before but feel to sell them would not be worth while as the time involved would leave no profit. I have done the others and from a user standpoint not looks I like the plastic stoppers they hold the best when the bottle is in the wine cooler for more than a day. The others tend to work there way out then you have a mess when you open the door.

I also agree with Jess. I, too, have switched over to Ruth Niles' stoppers and find them very easy to work with. They also sell quite well for me. People really seem to like the food-safe stainless steel they are made from.

I really like the Niles stoppers but they are too expensive for quick jobs.
The recessed stopper also seemed like a good idea so I adapted it for the silicone stoppers (Penn State) I usually use. Didn't get it quite as deep as I could have. Next time it will be completely internal.

As others have stated, Ruth Niles stoppers are the best out there

I have turned a dozen of them. They are more work than the conventional
style stopper. BUT they are a positive seal which allows the bottle to be laid
on its side without leaking. they are a nice stopper. If you wish to see pictures I will post some.

Thanks for all the info on the stoppers. I have not even turned one of any kind yet. I have ordered some of the cheaper ones just to try them out. This next week I will be on vacation and hope to try out a lot of differant things.
One more time
Thanks
