Occasionally we all have to try something new, not only in the form but in the material we use. I've turned walnut before and natural edge pieces before and keeping the bark is always a challenge. So I decided to push myself and do something with lots of bark. This piece is 8-1/2" tall, 8-3/4" tip to tip of the bark, body is approx. 3" dia. and the thickness is between 3/16" and 1/4". The longest bark extends 2-3/4" beyond the sapwood. The bark is very fragile but I did not loose any. Now to the form, it is definately different and I would like your critique of it. Don't know if I'll ever do another one similar to this but you never know. Thanks for looking and please feel free to give your honest comments.

Keith I like it a lot, great work. The bark does look tricky you did good to retain it.

Now that's impressive!!! Already saved it to my favorites folder! The amount of bark on this vase is remarkable! As to form - I think the vase by itself without the bark would have been noteworthy. Great form, great finish, great color! Thanks for raising the bar once again!

Keith, the wood is beautiful, the form is interesting, that bark looks like a giant flower sitting on top of the vaaase. Hmmmmm. I think I like it.

Keith, that's amazing! How in the world did you get that bark to stretch out that far and then stay in place. I'm impressed. That's truly something I've never seen before.

Very impressive Keith and an amazing job keeping the bark on. The form is interesting and unique, beautiful grain and great finish. That must of been one big log ya cut that out of to not have any curve in the natural edge.

Great job!

I think it's cool Keith. Never seen anything quite like it, but it all goes together for me. Great job keeping that bark on.

Nice work on some fine Arky Walnut...:D Pretty unique piece you got there. Makes me think of a Honeysuckle bloom.
