homeade live center??

I have a homemade lathe and want to make a live center for. The tailstock is made from a long 1 X 8tpi threaded rod that is tapped for a 1/2 in bolt on the interior. Can you make a live center somehow with a bearing and a 1/2in bolt or a 1 in nut?

BTW...I'm not very mechanically inclined so the simplier the better....of course safety is important too.

hi jeff could you post a pic of your tailstock

i might have one that you can make work since your lathe is HM any way maybe you could have a rod made to fit your tailstock with the right dia. nipple to fit into my livecenter bearing i'll try to get you a pic of the livecenter on sunday
