Anyone going? Depending on comments, may bring my "alien". Honest commentary solicited. PLease
For the display placard, a bit of explanation:

Primordial Roswell
Fossilized Alien Remains
Millions of Years Ago
Ernest Kuhn & John Barany

Panspermia Theory suggests that life "seeds" came from outer space and planets exchanged life. In this representation, the popular term "aliens" are seen to be those life "seeds". This fossilized discovery celebrates the first of the "alien" visitors when Earth was little more than primordial soup. It precedes the alleged alien "crash" at Roswell, NM (July, 1947) by millions of years.

Careful examination of the "foot" of this piece suggests that these early visitors were "monopodic", i.e. single-footed creatures.

I always wondered what one of those would look like. Now I know.

On a more serious note, I've never been to a woodturning symposium but if I were to go that is the type of piece that would make me stop and ponder. Very interesting.
