What nice folks those people at Whitechapel are ~!!
I ordered a hinge set. The un-drilled brass ones the smallest I could find while still having the precision to take a side load without canting off at some garish angle. They were a lousy one inch high. Which was just right.
But the lady from Whitechapel called me with bad news. They don’t got ‘em no more.
Well we took a scan through the catalog together, she was offering to send me hinges (plural) and some return mail envelopes so I could try a couple of different hinges and send the ones back I didn’t want. - - NO CHARGE - - -. That was awful nice I thought. Then while scanning the catalog I stumbled on a rather sturdy one inch hinge. It wasn’t even on both faces (one leaf was longer) but what the hay ~!! I could saw the excess of the other side and drill and C sink my own holes – there was room. Except it was like $30.00 a hinge - - not per pair - - but Each.
So I ordered two and she gave me the 25% trade discount and nixed the shipping cost.
That was nice. I’m going to buy from them again and again.
