I'm building a miniature shaker blanket chest out of solid cedar. I generally don't work with softwoods & I'm expecting some unexpecteds. I call upon the vast knowlege of the creek community to answer some of the following:
1) Are the conventional "softwood" dovetail angles appropriate? Should I modify the 1:6/1:8 tradition?
2) I use hand tools. Any tips on setting the plane mouth for cedar? I have very little experience planing anything softer than poplar.
3) Titebond III? OK? :)
4) Is staining/dying raw cedar out of the question? Should I washcoat/glue-hide prior to staining/dying?
5) In terms of topcoat, any recommendations?

I thank you in advance for any advice you might have. Long live the Creek, al
