Weight of wood

This is not really woodworking but I'm trying to find out how much a 8' 2x8 Douglas fir board wieighs. I'm raising the floor of a bus my son bought. I'm concerned about the weight, I suggested using metal studs. He would like to see the difference between the two. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Approx 10 lbs assuming a density of 530 kg/cu m.

I found this page (http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/weigt-wood-d_821.html) by Googling "Weight of Wood".

It says Douglas Fir weighs 33 lbs per cubic foot. An 8' 2" x 8" (8 x 1.5x 7.5 / 144) is 0.625 cu ft.

So, according to that it would weigh 20.625 pounds. Not sure why I would come up with a different weight than Greg.

Sorry, my mistake. I gave the weight for a 2 x 4.

S-DRY (surfaced dry) DF weight is 2000#/MBM
or 21.3# for the 2x8x8' board.

S-GRN (surfaced green) DF is 2500#/MBM or 26.6# for your board.

These are what are called "association weights" and will vary as the
lumber seasons. For reference the S-DRY requires the wood to have
a moisture content of 19% or less.
