Howdy everyone,

Well FINALLY!!!!!!! A day in the shop!!!!!! Only one minor interruption this afternoon. I was pleased to take a break to attend Arkansas All Region band concert. Katie made it!!!!! She's one heck of a kid!!!

I got the TV shelf attached, made the drawer (dovetailed all 4 corners). Got the slides mounted and the drawer front fitted. I love seeing some progress!!!

Hopefully tomorrow I can get the stiles and doors fitted and hung. Then...on to the finish. At this pace I should be done with it around the 4th of July.

Thanks for looking,

Terry

glad to see you still remember how to use all those tools in your shop.

MAN!!!! I barely do. It's been quite an experience. Just like starting all over again. I have maanged to screw up nearly every piece of this project in one way or another. Hopefully Cheryl won't be too ashamed of it. :D

Terry,

It is looking very nice, solid but not heavy, and I like the graceful arches.

What kind of finish will you be using on it?

Bruce,

Cheryl has requested the same finish as my bench. It's a Norm arts and crafts brew. Looks really aged on the white oak even when it's brand new. I'm hoping it will really pop the grain on the tiger oak in the doors.

A coat of cherry stain followed by a coat of dark walnut stain and then 3 coats of satin poly rubbed out with lemon oil and 1500 grit.

Looks really good there Terry..!!!! Glad to see you finally getting some shop time. I will be installing the drawers and drawer fronts on Joseph's chest-of-drawers and then moving it into his room.!!!!! Whoo-Hoo!!!! This is the LAST of the kids chest-of-drawers and I had to build 4 of them in order to wind up with 3 that I would call usable.

Keep up the good work and once you are done with that one, you can start making my EC....!!! ;)

Terry, that looks great! I love the design. I can't wait to see it when it's all done. Now, just don't make too much use of that eazy-chair in the background and you might make that 4th of July goal :D

Thanks Terry, I’m going to have to give that recipe a try. I'm looking forward to the pic's of it finished!

Lookin' good, Terry! Agree with Bruce on the arches, too. There's an EC in my future, but a ways away, yet. BTW, been meaning to ask you: How in the heck DO you get your stuff built without a spec of sawdust anywhere?! :D I know you've got a kickin' DC system, but ..... :D

Terry,

Pass on congrats to Katie. You're right she is one heck of a kid, scroll sawyer, turner and a musician to boot!

I think Cheryl probably will be too ashamed to let that thing into her beautiful house. Maybe you better just use it for a shop cabinet. :D

It's lookin' good and I'll bet Cheryl will love it!

Thanks everyone!!!!

Shop time has been at a bare minimum lately. It just feels good to get to go out there and do something!!!

Katie is so multi-talented it's kinda scary. Must get it from her mother. :D

John,

Well.....it is that good. :D The time, money and touble I have spent on DC has been worth it. I honestly would estimate that a minimum of 95% of the dust generated gets collected. It makes woodworking possible for me.

I firmly believe all those years in the body shop were pretty tough on me. I just can not stand the dust any more. Without the DC system, I would have to take up golf. :D
