I think if I could only have 1 wood to turn, this would be it. My shop still has a sweet, cinnamony smell. 6 1/2" diameter by 4 1/2" tall, buffed Antique oil finish.

A shot of the other side with flash, just for fun. ;)

Great piece Travis. Form and finish are spot on. Glad to see the last pic as I knew there had to be more than one opening:D

Travis,
I continue to be amazed by the work you do. Very nice piece. As someone that is a long way from turning something that someone would actually purchase, I was wondering. Do the holes in the side add to the value of the piece? Does it make it easier to sell as it has a little more individuality? I find them interesting but like the other side as well.

Beautiful..

Travis, once again you give something to strive for. Is that crepe myrtle or something else? Thanks.

That is a fine turning... and the last picture is very impressive, letting us see inside the piece thru the opening and the voids. That inside looks clean and smooth. Very impressive!

I have to agree - the inside of this piece looks as smooth and finished as the outside.

How do you do that???

A beauty Travis. I agree with everyone else that the inside looks to be as well done as the outside. I like that "chatoyance" in the wood too.

Thanks everyone. Benjamin, it's actually Oregon Myrtle/California Laurel.
Doug, I'm not sure. Some people think it's neat, others think "Hey, there's a hole in the side.......... " I like utilizing natural voids, gives a peek of what's inside. ;)

First of all, awesome piece. Love the holes in the side.

Second, where are you getting the antique oil and what brand is it? It would appear from an internet search that Minwax antique oil is no longer available, but then again, I might be mental.

You just gave me a scare Robert! I get the Minwax antique oil at my local Ace Hardware. A quick search showed that it's available at Rockler's also. ;)

Travis, you've done me in on this one. Now I must go home early today to have tmie on the lathe to start a HF. I am absolutely in love with the grain in this piece. And thanks for not putting a colar on this. I see so many piece that I think the colar almost detracts from the piece and this one would have been definately top of the list with one.

Ohhh almost forgot, I'll PM my adress to you for you to ship it to me if you would like:D :D :D :D
