Like many on this board I am wrestling with the dust collection question. Based on published reviews and comments from other members I was ready to purchase a Delta 50-760. Then I saw the 2HP canister filter models offered by various importers.

It appears that for about an additional $200 I can get a 30-40% increase in rated CFM, 25% more static pressure, and a significant reduction in DB rating. Both claim 1 micron filtering. It does require adding another 220 circuit but that is not a major obstacle.

Has anyone compared these units? I am including links to both Delta model and Grizzly, although I also looked at the Lobo site and I am certain there are others.

Thoughts?

Lloyd,

There's a current thread (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=59610) that I started just recently that has some good discussion on dust collectors. I limited it to 110V solutions, but all the usual topics are mentioned: chip vs dust collection, trash can lid separators, shop vac vs DC, etc.

But for your question, I have the 50-760. It is a good chip collector and is quiet enough for me, usually the machine its hooked up to is louder. If I would upgrade it, I would either add a canister filter (replace the bag) or rig it up to vent outside (though haven't figured out how to do that yet).

You should be able to find these for a really good price at Lowes. They are discounting them like crazy.
