Jake Darvall posted an excellent pictorial (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=59553)on how he makes picture frames stock using hand planes in the Neander Forum. I feel compelled to call your attention to it because the techniques he uses to build the profiles also apply to making the same with powered machinery. Many times we make the assumption that we have to cut the profile with a single piece of tooling and forget the flexibility that using multiple cutters, tools and orientations of the same bring to the table. Please take a minute to view Jake's pictures and think about how you might make great moldings in the same way, no matter if you use hand planes or machinery.
