I'm a Sketchup newbie trying to learn 3d drawing with only 2d experience. One of the problems I'm having right off the bat is getting the Paint Bucket to work. I'm using SU 6.0.515 with Windows Vista.

I've read SU's online help and have set (in Styles) my edges to Color:By Material and my Faces to "Display shaded using textures". I've picked Wood:Plywood_knots as my material. Nothing happens when I select my object and use Paint Bucket to fill the area. I played around with Sketchup a year ago or so on an XP computer and had no problem getting Paint Bucket to work. I'm having a real hard time getting my brain to think in 3d so I'm hoping that it clicks soon.

Any ideas of what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks,

Brian

I just tried doing what you described and it works fine here mate. Maybe you could post the file up so I can have a look at it for you?

Hi Brian,

This can occur sometimes when you have a group within a group. You may need to drill down if that is the case

Make sure the surface you want to paint is selected before you click on it with the paint tool. You can tell it is selected when it is highlighted with lots of little dots. (Usually blue, but the highlighting color can be changed.)
