a question about the sorby texturing system

hi, has anyone used the sorby spiralling / texturing system ? if so did you like it ?

I have it and like it. I have played with the spiraling a little but not used it on any real work yet. Most of what I have done is textureing.

Does anybody have any links on making one? I imagine if one got a hold of some small gears, or sprockets, or ground their own heads it would probably be a lot cheaper?
