When one is steambending parts, is it considered good practice to bend cylindrically shaped parts, or should I plan on bending parts square in crossection and plan on shaping them after bending?

A whole lot easier to cut the shapes, first...leaving enuf wood at the joints for final fitting.

Shape - ie. spokeshave, drawknife, lathe - then bend.
