Well it's not perfect but close enough for me to be proud of. Here's a link to some pics. Sorrry about the green tint- red was a bad choice.

Ryan,

Seeing that little beauty is hard,,,,reminds me of that almost complete set of Type 11's I got rid of. Congrats on the results of all your hard work!

Ryan,

That plane looks great, did you pour molten glass over the totes? I believe I could see myself in that front knob and I wasn't even there.

I thought about it but I opted for deft gloss in a spray can. A woodnetter told me I should do something about it. Should I use some 0000 steel wool?

Ryan, fine steel wool will help bring the shine down. After you used the steel wool you can use a slow speed buffer (dremmel on low speed) to get the scratches out. If you dont have a buffer a terrycloth and some furniture polish will work.

Thanks. I'll do that.

Why do I hear a little voice saying,"See,I told at the flea market I can look as good as I work." It's a beauty;thanks for the inspiring photos.
Hope I,m not the only one that hears their tools talking to them!:D Thanks again,Ralph

Very nice work. How do you get the body so shiny? I have used steel wool with mild acid or WD-40 and while that method will clean off the rust it certainly doesn't produce such an amazing shine.

No that's totally normal lol.

Just plain ol' 150 grit sandpaper. It's not the most enjoyable part of the process that's for sure.

Very nice Ryan. You've come a long way Grasshopper -your too young to remember that TV show :-). Now, will it make shavings?

Hehe. Funny you should ask..uh.. no. The iron still needs sharpened which will be done with the Scary Sharp method when I get around to it.

Another person who is sending me down the slippery slope for turning old tools to new. Great job!
