Spalted Birch

[Mark Cothren]

This Birch came from Kentucky after a tornade took out a bunch of trees close to my bro-in-law's house. I roughed this out a long time ago, but just recently got around to finishing it up. The wood spalted while sittin' in the shop.

It ended up 9" wide and 4" tall and I ended up branding the foot a little.

Great form Mark! Beautiful wood - branding draws a little attention to the foot area and helps separate it from the rest of the HF. Very nice work!

Thanks Doug. I burn/brand with a homemade tool using wire that I bend to whatever shape tip I want.
