Hollow form... 9" x 6-1/2"... some nice figured sapwood, IMO... ebonized collar with the edge just touch-burned - has a kinda serrated look now...

Nice shape on the hollow form, and you're right about the sapwood on it.

I like bowl #1, not sure I like the burned rim but it's growing on me. The hollowform is superb. Great work.

Love the simple form for bowl #1. Still not sure about the confetti lamp but agree that it is pretty wood. The footed bowl grabbed my attention with it's classic form and burned highlights! Absolutely love everything about the hollow form! Beautiful form, wood and love the detail work on the collar! Great work Mark! Thanks for posting!

All very lovely pieces! Black walnut is such a rich wood to work with, whether turning or doing, umm...flat work...especially when it's not been steamed. There is so much wonderful color in this wood!

Mark, these pieces sure are pretty - so much more color and grain than the pieces we have tried. What's your secret?? I like the HF very much, but I do like the confetti lamp--I don't think it's ugly at all. And that small bowl looks just the right size for a serving of ice cream!! (Where's Andy??)

Great stuff Mark (except for the lamp) !! As big a fan as I am of HF's and as good as this one is, the footed bowl is my favorite one of these pieces. Everything with it is just perfect.:) :)

Those are all beauties Mark. But the footed bowl stands out with the matching burned rim and foot and that tall HF really jumps out with the lighter sapwood.
