I just picked up some corain and was wondering what is the best way to make it look shiney, like when it is brought into someones home? Is it just a matter of sanding it with very fine grits(2000-4000)? The plan is to make some scroolsaw projects from it.

Al,

You can sand Corian with regular sandpaper, Scotch 3M pads on your ROS or Trizac disks with water.

I often use 80 and 120 grit paper on my ROS then switch to 3M pads. The final pass with a white 3M pad and counter top polish will bring the surface to a nice shine.

For irregular shaped projects and routed edges I use a buffing wheel and compound. Be careful not to be to aggressive with buffing wheels as they can easilly create to much heat and ruin the surface. I have made custom buffing wheels from Scotch 3M pads by cutting several disks and mounting them on a n arbor.
