Greetings all!
I have some projects coming up that call for edge lighting of acylic. I'm thinking led but am open to suggestions. Anyone working with edge lighting and can help me out it would greatly be appreciated!

Thanks

Marty

Martin,

Over on World of Engraving forum there is a forth coming design of an LED edge lighted stand for less than 10.00. Might want to look at it.

http://www.cnczone.com/forums/images/smilies/RAINFRO.gif We just made 90 centerpieces with built-in edge lighting. The bases are MDF routed with holes for raw LEDs. This first version was all very rough as far as the electronics go however I am finishing up the circuit board layout for different designs now. The costs are really the LEDs if you want high brightness white light. We found surplus wide angle white LEDs for .38 each using 18 per centerpiece. Add resistor, batt holder and wire we had about $7.50 per unit not counting labor. Designs are out on the net and you can even find sites that will calculate the configuration and resistor value for you.

http://www.luxeonstar.com/resistor-calculator.php will show simple single LED configuration while http://led.linear1.org/led.wiz will actually lay out the circuit.

Of course this is for the do it yourself person and takes time. If you find somewhere that has reasonable edge light units let us know!

Thanks Pete,
I'm not the greatest electrical guy, but I'll work on it. One idea someone passed onto me about leds was to get the best pricing wait for the sales after christmas for the led strands you can make some good buys.

Thanks
