Is there a "ruler" function that will give me the distance between two points? Also, can I easily find out the length of a curve?

There is a dimension tool in the 4th icon on the left of your screen. I do not know of a way to measure a curve.

You can measure the distance between two points using the dimension tool. To measure a curve, it will depend on the application.. do you want the distance traveled by the curve or the smallest box you can place the curve into?

Draw a line between the two points. Length will display on the properties bar.

I can't see how it measures diagonals though. Drawing the line makes sense, but I can't see how long it is. I can only see the dimensions of the invisible box surround it.

The square root of ( side a squared + side b squared ) = the length of the diagonal, or just draw it straight, a known fixed length and rotate it.

I think the dimension tool couldn't measure diagonals until X3.
