Well, this has been over 6 months in the making, but my family now has a big gloat on the way...or, we're on the way to it, or something like that.

I'll let you know more of the details after the fact.

And, Tyler, don't worry, some pics have already been taken, but there are more to be taken, so when the time is right, they will be posted as proof-of-occurrence.

Hey, I've been sitting on this for over 6 months...you guys can surely wait ~3 weeks or so! :D

I know, I'm such a tease...

Oops...I just realized I posted this in the OT forum--it's not entirely OT, it is somewhat woodworking-related.

Let's see . . . 6 months in the making . . . what's the gestation period for a great dane?

Bruce, re-read--there ARE pics...I'm just not posting them yet, because there will be MORE pics. Besides, it really hasn't happened yet, at least not fully.

Glenn, no Great Danes here...

Cue the suspenseful, mystery music... :p

(P.S. You guys can guess all you want, but my lips are sealed for now. :D )

In due time, my friend, in due time. Right now, I'm guessing we're about 9 days away from the "after" pics, give or take a day or two. :D

I'm warming up now...

I guess I can drop a tiny hint. Today I rented a Porter-Cable 7800. But, I didn't exactly use it for its intended specific purpose. Kind of, but not really...more on that later.

I guess you could say today was yet another milestone, so we're getting closer...

BTW, Chris, the "pics of the pics"...is that like the guy who took a pic of the check he wrote for a speeding ticket, then sent the pic and got a pic of some handcuffs in return?

OK so you rented a Drywall Sander..

What pray tell are you doing with it?

I've seen guys sand floors with them.

Who did you rent it from? (My company rents them.. Just Curious)..

Jason Roehl

I rented it from SunBelt--in a former NationsRent location. I was originally worried I wouldn't be able to get one because the first few places I called didn't rent them anymore--apparently they would burn up too quick.

They sure are the cat's meow, though...but I'm not sanding floors with them...my partner and I already own all the floor equipment we need.

Hello,

Glenn, no Great Danes here...
LOL!
Our "little fella" was one of the all time great's - small pun intended ;).

He live to be almost 14 years old - which for a Dane is almost unheard of.

Here he is getting a "What's This?!?!" Who did that??"
(the orange frisbee in the background was his food dish - and he knew better than to drag it into the lving room - but he'd do it anyhow sometimes just to get attention.)

Ok...the time is much nearer...that's why I haven't been poking my head in here in the last 5 or 6 days. The gloat has been keeping me VERY busy in that time. The brain is fried, so is the body. One more day of accomplishment, then Sunday I will rest--and maybe post some pics.

Oh, and I must say, good friends are good to have.

Oh, man, you guys are killing me...I was hoping nobody noticed I was past due...

Here's a pic of the new shop...(in front of the red Cherokee--that's the home inspector's vehicle). I have to make room for the family van on the right...

Let's just say that previously, if I said to a guest, "Welcome to my humble abode," the emphasis was definitely on the "humble". My wife, 3 kids, cat and I lived in a 1907 sub-1000 s.f., 2-bedroom, one-hole house with a detached 1-car garage (my tool dump..errr..shop). With some help from my father, we're now in a 1974 1900+ s.f. 3-bedroom 2.5-bath bi-level house with a 2-car garage that is the full depth of the house. Since my work truck won't go through the garage door anyway, I'll have about 8 feet in front of the van, plus the whole left half of the garage for woodworking tools. And I'll need to do some woodworking, as we now have some furniture "holes" to fill in the new digs. I am now more or less in Lafayette, IN (actually just outside city limits, but on city water/sewer), instead of 15 miles SE. I figure my vehicle fuel costs will be cut in about half as most of my jobs are in Lafayette.

Congrats on the new home, Jason! It looks great!

oh btw: make sure your wife always has a parking inside the garage. It makes future tool purchases easier!

Woah! Congratulations!!!!!! It sounds like a very nice step up in so many ways, both in the "living space" and the "play space"!! I'm really happy for you, Jason...including the shorter "commute" to your job sites. Nice...

Congratulations! Looks like a great big step up. Soon you'll start being jealous again of the guys who keep posting here with their 60 by 100 foot shops, but for now it must feel like paradise.
