Hello all. I just took Delivery of a LaserPro 30 Watt Spirit. Before I hook it up I was concerned about Surge Protection or a UPS power supply like they use on computers. What are others using....

I have a Explorer II 25 watts. I use a Best Buy (Geek Squad) 1500VA UPS hooked up only to my laser. This should provide up to 9 hours at idle for backup. My thought is in the event of complete power outage, I can pause my laser and not lose my piece and hope the power is restored in time. Also, this serves as a surge suppressor. It cost about $200.00.

I have an APC surge protector. Cost me $30 or so, it has $100,000 lifetime connected equipment protection.

I said it in another thread, but I had a surge get through an APC product and they paid for the data recover as well as a new PC, all of which got fried by the surge.

I wouldn't plug my laser into anything that didn't have a protection plan like that.

The Geek Squad UPS carries a $500,000.00 protection Warranty.
