I roughed this one out a long time ago and just got around to finishing it a day or two ago.

This was from a tree that was cut in a yard where a friend of mine was adding on to his house. It has produced several turnings from a variety of folks - with more to come, I'm sure. Some very unique grain and figure in this wood. One spot of black spalting that you can see.

9-1/2" wide and 4-1/4" tall. One coat of antique oil and buffed.

Wow Mark! Amazing wood! I like the classic shape and the low luster finish on this one. You did a really good job in highlighting the unique grain patterns! Very nice work!

What a great bowl Mark! I assume that is not normal silver poplar, that grain is outstanding. I like the shape, finish, and outward sloped rim on this one.

I dunno, George. This is the only Silver Poplar I've turned so I don't have any other to compare to. This is one of the more tame pieces - most of the wood has been really wild. It was a big, old tree.

Mark,
Wonderful bowl, I love the grain on that. I have never seen poplar look like that before. I have a huge cucumber tree in the back yard I want to take down and When I look it up it says it's wood sells as poplar. I hope it has have the grain as yours!

Mark, I echo what everyone else has said about this bowl. I've come back to look at it several times and I just can't get over the graining in that wood. It's just beautiful.
