Last winter sometime I cut these logs out at my parents place. I didn't really have time to do anything more with them so I just Anchor Sealed them and stacked them in the lean to. I was back there this weekend and....they appear to be growing. Maybe I can turn some NE's with sprouts growing out of the rims.

Yep... I've had it happen with two types of Poplar that I've had in the yard. Some of it sprouted green twigs/leaves for several months.

A garden plant store I go to prints on the back of thier receipt "Guarenteed to Grow or Die trying." It seems your logs are living by that creed.

I have box elder growing like that right now. Am waiting to see how long it lasts before it dies.

When they grow like that still standing it makes for nice burl patterns.

I just noticed last night that an aspen log I pulled from up near Frisco CO, and anchor sealed has a couple of sprouts coming out of it. I'm keeping it standing vertical, about 5' tall and 3" dia. I was just about to post the same question.
