Not sure what the official name is for this but it is Mesquite burl. the wings are 15 inches long at the widest and the bowl is 7 1/4 and it is a little over 2 inches tall. The finish is danish oil.

This was the practice for the other half of the burl that is a bit taller.

Mike, you have made not only a beauty, but it is interesting with the contrasting flat and round features. The winged bowls are popular with turners and customers alike especially with wood like this.

Very nice winged bowl Mike! Beautiful wood and I really like the low gloss finish. Must have heard that thing 1/2 a mile away when it was turning!!

Seriously nice work!

I've had the pleasure of seeing this in person and I'll say the pictures don't do it justice.
I'm not trashing your pics Mike, but having seen this I can say that it's an impressive bowl.

Nice work Mike, kinda reminds me of NOAA's hurricane symbol. You aren't making a prediction are you.

Super piece... I love this! The edges look scary to have spinning around, but the result is beautiful! I love the mesquite!

That a beauty Mike!!! I especially like the curves to the wings. Can you still count to ten on your fingers?

Nice one,
Dick

Nice job Mike . Isn't it fun watching the wings go by hoping you don't forget where your fingers are?

My wife says I still have ten, but I will have to trust her since I can't count that high.

Mike, you get an A+. Thats a real beauty. I bet it was rather nerve racking to do with those wings flying around. Great job.
