This is my latest piece I've been working on, its walnut and maple and measures 10'' tall and 6 1/2 '' wide . Antique oil finish. I had not tried glueing one up like this before and it didn't come out hardly like I thought it would but it did give me an idea for a future piece. Comments and critiques welcome.

Mike, just getting started to turn segmented items like yours and am very impressed with this piece. I am having a little trouble visualizing how you made the "cuts" to come up with your particular pattern--could you help? Thanks.

Verrrry well done, Mike. Looks like you used a micrometer for setting out the cuts. Seems to be perfectly centered, too. The pics seem to be all North or South; How 'bout one looking East or West?

The shape and pattern are awesome. The pattern really enhances the form. I like this a lot.

Wow Mike, that's amazing. I've never seen a design quite like that. That must be a Fuson original? I really like that and the overall shape is great too.

Very cool.

One minor critique: I'd eliminate that top ring altogether. The straight-line "cog" effect of the walnut there detracts (very slightly) from the flow of the walnut 'curves' in the main piece.

(Joe, if the pattern is the one I think it is, it looks the same east-west as north-south, but there are some interesting curves from offset angles, e.g. north-northwest.)

I agree. But I think the maple layering is all North-South. That's why I asked.
