Some of the guys in my turning club have located an importer of assorted burls. One of the guys shared some of his stash with me to try out. This one was marked as a Rosewood burl cap from Belize. I need to make a trip to the warehouse myself now, this turned very nicely.
7" diameter by 5" tall, buffed Antique oil finish.

Wow, that burl is really "full featured"! Nice stuff. And the hollowform is most excellent, too... :D

Beautiful Travis! Very impressive burl and form! How in the world did you manage to turn the foot area?

Thanks guys. Steve, I used a longer piece of wood chucked up as a friction drive against the inside bottom of the form. I had to turn it down where it entered the top of the form, so the 1 lip could register against it to run true enough to turn off the tenon. Easier done than said. ;)

I can definitely see why you would want to go back for more. That is some amazingly beautiful wood and as always, you brought out the best in it, Travis.

Hot dog, what a beautiful piece of wood, and man how you used it on your lathe. Thanks Travis for letting us see it.

Travis, I'm absolutly floored. That is one of the finest NE's I've seen. I hope you are getting top dollar for your work. It's definatly worth it. Great job.
