It's not a very large bowl 5 inch across 2 inch high. Nothing special as far as wood goes. I think the man said soft maple. The finish is just a friction polish. What is special is that it's my first bowl. Took a class a the local Woodcraft. Learned a ton of stuff and had a very good time.

And a fine bowl it is! You got a nice regular curve and the small foot is sized appropriately...great job!

I might hate you. That would be a fine looking piece for a 30th bowl never mind a first.

I agree Mike. Dennis, where do you get off making the rest of us feel bad?

That is such a great first... there are several on here who have turned beautiful firsts! Makes me mad... we can only turn one first and mine is nothing to be proud of  ;) Congratulations on a first bowl... you did a fine job!

I want to say thanks to all for for those encourageing words. Must tell you that I tried a second bowl today and as of yet have not found all the pieces. There wasn't enough left over for a scoop.
Thanks again

Dennis,

Nice form, nice foot and nice finish, I think you've got this turning stuff down.

How did you burnish the lines?
