Are there any scripts or whatever out there that can generate a 3 view (Orthographic view) from a sketchup model? Just looking for some way to get the 3d computer model onto some good old fashioned 2d paper I can take into the shop.

Or any tips on how you use sketchup beyond the design mode?

Thanks!

There's a way to do exactly that.

Under the Camera pull down menu, select Parallel projection. That changes from a perspective view to a parallel view. Then you can use the icons in the Views tool bar (the tool bar which looks like little houses from different angles) to see from front, back top, etc.

You can use the X-ray and wire frame views to see through the object if that's what you want to do.

Although you can do it that way, I usually don't. I usually save another version of the drawing and start making exploded construction and parts views with dimensions and notes added in. I can also "unbuild" the drawing and layout parts on wood.
