I've wanted to do one of these for awhile now, so I finally did. Measures approx. 3-1/2" dia. x 8-3/4" tall. Hollowed to a wall thickness of 1/8". Ebony finial and base. Finished with Antique Oil and Beall buffed. Honest opinions and critiques accepted. As always, thanks for looking.

I am sorry Keith but for me there is nothing to critique. It is beautiful. I like it. I really would like to try one of those. Nice job.

Keith, this piece is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!! I love it, and I particularly love the way that when you look at it with the lid, that finial seems to be growing out of the middle like the entire vessel was turned around a one-piece base/finial. I'd bet that you kept your hands faaaaaaar away from that thing while it was spinning, didn't you? How many nicks did you get?

GORGEOUS!!!

Absolutely love it! Great colors, form and finish! Specially like the way you left a portion of the burl natural. Amazing work Keith! I would expect to see this in a magazine sometime soon!

Keith that's a really unique piece. I really like that the lid is disguised so well. If you don't mind my asking, how did you cut the lid off with such tight tollerances? Again, nice, nice work.:)

Thanks all for your comments. They are really appreciated !!

Bill, the lid actually came from another section of the burl. I had this lid in mind but didn't know if I could get it to work. I just found a small piece that looked the same and turned it. If it had not worked, it would have had a ebony lid !!

Very creative on the top... the finial is excellent, IMO... all in all I think it is one of your best pieces - and that's saying a lot.

I really can't add to or exceed the above comments, except to say that my initial immediate response was,"that looks like lace". Upon further reflection, I thought it looked like lace! Either way, it is fantastic!:D
