This will be my first attempt at trying to attach a picture to a post here. Hope it works.

This is a Knife Drawer with a cutting board top that I just finished as a gift for my niece. She is getting married this Saturday. I found this project in an old (1994) Wodworker's Journal.

Anyway, a few details:

The sides and back of the base are mahogany, and the top and bottom are 1/2" plywood with 1" mahogany strips along the front edge.

The drawer sides and back are poplar with a cherry stain, the bottom is 1/4" cherry ply and the drawer front is curly maple. There is an oak knife block inside the drawer.

The cutting board is alternating strips of oak, cherry and maple.

This was a complete scrapwood project. Every piece of wood in it was a leftover from some other project. I really hate to through stuff away.

Very nice, mark. Particularly like the design and the contrasting wood strips on the top. Best. Dave.
