I Have two questions

1. I remember seeing about where someone where someone made a set of "Cole Jaws" to do the bottom of the bowl I think they used some 1/4" Ply. I looked but I can't find it does anybody remember this article?

2. I have a couple of Pinnacle v ground bowl gouges I would like to try the U shape gouges for the life of me I can't find who makes the U Ground gouges. Any body know different names who makes these &

where do you get your turning tools from. I've gone to Woodcrafters but they are kind of expensive.

Thanks

Chuck

.. tools that are first quality, and the 3/8" side ground (U shaped flute, just like Sorbys) gouge will be your weapon of choice in no time. Goto packardwoodworks.com Brad and his gang are turners and know their stuff, and the service is the best.

I made a set from 1/4" plywood and have the pattern on my web site. Go do the left to the Woodlathe section, then to Making Special tools.
That may be the one you saw.

Chuck,

Look up this thread:

Doug Thompson makes all sorts of gouges with different flutes. His un-handled gouges have better wearing resistance steel at price cheaper than regular M2 gouges.
