There's been questions on how to hang DC pipes, so I thought I'd post a link to my shop with some pictures. http://www.yucholian.com/woodwk/woodshop.htm

Good job on the shop tour, and the ductwork.

I want your Nomad! I had a chance to buy one back when I was in High School, for not much money, but still more than I could come up with at the time.

.... Nice layout, nice equipment. I used medium weight chain to hang my S&D 2729 six inch pipe. It's probably more circumstance and conditions as to what is best. Ref. http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=8070

You've drawn me out of the woodwork with those pics - my first post. Very nice shop and a great job with the DC pipes. Thank you for sharing.

Is it inappropriate to say that was like porn for guys over 40? :)

All of the woodworking-related pictures were taken with either Canon SD 800 IS or Canon G7. SD800 has a wider angle than G7 so that's what I used for wider shots. Otherwise, I used the G7. What's great about these 2 cameras is that they both have Image Stablizer (IS) that allows me to take pictures in the shop without a flash. I hate flashes, too harsh on pictures.

Over the years, I have gone through MANY cameras. I got tired of the Nikon DSLR, sold it last year and got these 2 point-and-shoot Canons. I am VERY happy with my decision and I think the G7 gives me better pictures than the DSLR I had. I highly recommend it.

BTW, I'm sure the picture would've turned out better with any of these cameras if the operator knew what he was doing. :D

I have a standard height ceiling of 7'10" so this is the hanger I use.

Yuchol, very nice shop, I love those tall ceilings. How many square feet is it?

Thanks for the pictures.

Nice shop! Here is what I came up with to attach my DC piping to the steel beam in my shop. http://members.cox.net/ecoz/hanger.jpg

I replied but for some reason, it doesn't show up.
My shop is just shy of 600 square feet, 10 foot ceiling. It's attached to a 3 car garage and house. I don't use the garage for woodworking but I do store some wood there.

Yuchol, thanks for great tour. I like seeing a shop that is evidently used. Those cabinets you have look good, real good.

Thanks for sharing your shop with us. Great shop and great photos.

What did you use to seal the pipe joints?

Does your shop stay fairly clean with the dust collector?

I "dry" fit all joints, put couple of screws to hold things together (long enough to hold, short enough to not cause clogging), and caulked all joints from outside using white 100% silicone caulking (don't use siliconized caulking, cheap, not good).

Shop stays pretty clean.......................when I remember to turn on the dust collector. I can't give you any percentage or other quantitative value.

Yuchol,

Aside from the layout and DC, I like the high ceiling, white walls and lighting. I have the same type of flourescent lighting, with daylight wavelength bulbs, and find it works very well.
