Need idea help for "Taking new job" card

At my day job, we have a longtime associate leaving for another job. He has been at his current job for over 27 years. I want to get everyone there to write a short farewell with their signatures on paper. I will scan this and engrave it on a wooden plaque. I need ideas on the rest of it - as in what to say, design ideas and format of the plaque. My initial idea is to engrave a saying in the center and engrave the "Best Wishes" and signatures around the saying like you would have in a greeting card. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I did something like this. All the names on the top of one of my pen boxes. With something like best of luck from all of us and all the names engraved on the top. They also had a gift of money in the box for him.
