Yes, I know there was a thread awhile back but I thought I'd show my version. It is constructed of 3/16" steel using 1-1/2" solid shafts for the hinges. Each hinge has three lock bolts. The tool rest support is 1-1/2" shaft as well with two lock nust to hold the tool rest. I had the shaft bored at a machine shop. My lathe is, dare I say, a Delta 1642 Steelbed with the sliding head. I will be able to turn up to 30" diameter with this set up. Now all I've got to do is find some big slabs !!

Sweet! :)

Now let's see some shots of it in action!

Now that's what I call heavy duty! Looking forward to seeing the results of such a rig!

Wow Keith that thing looks mighty stout. Shouldn't give any problems from what I can see. Excellent.

Keith
When I do this to my Jet 1642 and my wife and friends question my senses I will blame the insanity on you. Nice set up. I'm gonna have to try this.

Looks Great Keith,

I think I would glue up some scraps for a trial run. And wear armor!

Thanks guys ! I have some big blanks lined up from a club member. Hope to get them by the weekend and give it a spin. Truthfully I am a little skeered about it, but not skeered enough not to do it.

I would be skeered too. I have the outboard setup on my mustard and hopefully will try it this summer. Good Luck!
