Took me 2.5 months to build the Cyclone, and 6 months to get off my duff and finish the ductwork. The cyclone is my old 2 hp Jet Dust Collector converted over using one of Terry Hatfields Dust Eliminator Kits. It works great.

I would like to thank several people for their helping me along the way. First I would like to thank my wife, who helped me tape seams and gave me a 3rd hand when I needed it. Next I would like to thank my friend Scott Coffelt, who last week, completely reconfigured the placement of my power tools in my shop. I would like to thank Bill Pentz and Terry Hatfield for all their support, and finally I would like to thank Steve King, whose posts last week inspired me to get off my a$$, and get this project finished.

PS, I just ordered some clear flexible pipe to connect ductwork to my miter saw, bandsaw, and router table.

Here are the pics.

PS, if anybody is interested, I have a whole box full of 4 in dust collector parts I never used that I plan to sell.

Those are Torit Filters. The .2 micron ones.

Used by Jet DC-1200 (2hp). Had Terry Hatfield up here a while back, its CFM curve went from 1000 CFM down to down around 600 CFM at 6.0 in of static pressure.

Jack,
That looks great!!!! Isn’t it a good feeling to finally finish the project and get back to woodworking?

Jack,
Were you able to buy any of your duct work or filters locally? I live in the Olathe area and would be interested in local sources.

Thanks,
Rick

Yep, got the 6 in spiral pipe in Olathe at an HVAC place, the name escapes me (contractor only place, had to pay cash). Ordered the wyes from Home Depot (special order). They were for HVAC, so the crimps were all backwards. Built the blast gates, and used the off the shelf 6" 90s from Home Depot. I ordered the filters from www.wynnenv.com

If you are interested, in doing 4", I have a whole dust collection system worth of parts I never used that I plan to sell.

I have been in a good mood ever since I finished. Now I just have to build 2 bookcases, an entertainment center, bunk beds, shelves, and whatever else my wife dreams up.

Oh yeah, I need to build a miter saw cabinet and a sanding station cabinet, better move those up to the top of the list, cause those are more important. (to me at least) :-)

The place where we got the pipe is located in Lenexa near the JcPenny's distribution center (something??? supply) a block off of Lackman about 105th. It is really for contractors only. Look in the phone book and call, they may be able to work a deal with you.

We got a great deal because they misquoted us a price, and Jack was able to work them down from the new price they quoted. I think we paid about $1.60/ft after tax in 10' pieces.

As Jack said you can get the wyes from Home Depot, they are special order. We paid about $11/each for them and you have to buy in quanties of 6. Personally, I would lean towards Ken Craft as they have some made for DC at $20/each. The HD ones really require some serious caulking. The adjustable elbows and 6x4 reducers where best priced at Sutherlands.

If you decide to go with S&D, Lowes does carry it. It is quicker and easier to assemble. Seals better also. Pricing overall may run about the same.

Ditto on the 4" stuff, Jack and I may do an EBAY sell here to dump the 4 inch stuff we have between us.
