I'm trying to contact a person who doesn't seem to post here anymore about a drying kiln he built or is building. Anyway, having failed to find him can I ask if anyone here has built one and can you point me to how-to info. I'd like something not too large, maybe a few hundred bd ft. Thank you now for your help. Simon,

You may want to try these links for good info:

Virginia Tech Solar Kiln (http://www.woodscience.vt.edu/about/extension/vtsolar_kiln/)

Wood Drying Kiln (http://www.laymar-crafts.co.uk/tip51.htm)

Hope this is of some help.
Jim

Here's one (http://www.woodturningonline.com/assets/turning_articles/Kiln/Introduction.html) that Creeker Dennis Daudelin produced.

If you Google "container kilns" you will get some good information.

Simon you Might try this article on the Gulf Coast Woodturner's site:
http://www.gulfcoastwoodturners.org/RESOURCES/Articles.html
Once on the page look at all the articles under "Drying Wood to Get Round Bowls ". Start with the first link for pics. Hope this helps.:)
