It's not pretty But I'm happy with it. This is the first bowl I've been able to completely finish. I don't have a buffing system so I put some antique oil and pastewax on it. The bowl is 10.5'' wide and 3'' tall.

Thanks for looking and any advice.

Cory I don't know what is not to like. For a first bowl that is beauty. I wish my first one was that good. Keep'em coming Cory.

Cory - that's a nice bowl! Nice form, finish and a great looking wood. Be sure to hang on to this one - the first bowl always makes for a great show & tell!

Cory,

If you hadn't told us it was your first bowl, no one would have known it. On the other hand, telling us it is your first bowl makes it all that more impressive. Really nice job!

Keep up the good work.

Cory, my advice to you is to make more of these and post the pictures like you did of this one. You are a natural born bowl turner.

Thanks everybody, I'm running about a 10% success rate right now, I'm just glad one finally survived. I'm going to take a couple of weeks vacation at the end of the month and hopefully I will get some done then.

Cory, the problem with turning a bowl like that on you first try is that everyone you turn after that has to be a little better. That one is going to be a hard act to follow. That's a nice bowl, nice form, finish, and some nice looking wood.

I used my first bowl to feed the cat. He'd walk up to it and scrape a few pieces out on the floor. I don't think he liked the idea of eating out of it.

Sure doesn't resemble a first... a really beautiful bowl! Great form and finish! Way to go... now go turn another!
