Ron,
I read an article by Jeff Jewitt about damage repairs. If the ring is white, then it will be easier to repair as opposed to the black ring which goes through the finish into the wood. Light padding with a rag moistened (not dripping wet) with denatured alcohol will remove the white spot. Use back and forth pendulum motion in the direction of the grain to remove the spot.

Ron I have never used this product but I found it while looking at a woodcraft catalog.

Hopefully some one else can give you real life experience.

Alex has got it. I am a rank amateur when it comes to finishing and I have saved a few shellac problems with DNA.

Moisture has gotten under the finish and has created a 'blushing' in the form of the white ring. A rag dampened with DNA should take care of it.
