Another Mothers Day gift for Grandma ... A round bottom Box Elder hollow form with a little burl and some beautiful bright reds. It sure is some pretty wood.

Its a little one ... 2 1/2" tall by 4 1/2" wide.

I went with a little wider opening on this one, I think it fits the piece better. What do ya think?

Shane, I like the opening, especially with the way you shaped the edge where it flares up to the opening. Great piece! I know she'll be proud to own it.

Not much to say except it is another excellent piece. The opening size fits for me.

Although I generally prefer a smaller opening for this kind of work, this piece works...and you nailed the form. What a wonderful gift!

I like it Shane! Beautiful wood and the form has a slight Southwestern flair to it! Grandma is gonna love it!

Thanks for all the comments, I appreciate them.

I didn't end up giving this one to Grandma, my wife reminded me how much grandma loved one of my other pieces so I gave that one to her instead.

and of course my aunt seen it and "just had to have one" so she came over and I told her to pick what ever one she wanted. I have about 40 turnings sitting on the shelf and she picked the "Ugly Bowl" ...

So it looks like I getta keep this little one :D , at least until the next family get-together.

Thanks again for the comments,
Shane Whitlock
