Hello Every Body,

Miss me? Well, the old super computer we built

5 short years ago, just wasn't good enough.

It's good enough to post this now after I started

my killing spree on the hard drive but what I did was....

Spend money.

First off, did you notice that this is my one thousandth

post? Whood a thunk?

Back to the computer, this all happened 'cause I wanted a

larger monitor, maybe two. Then I found this 32 inch,

sharp lcd, high def, aquos, computer ready TV.

SOLD! Then got to thinking again, with the help of

a pocket calculator, that it would be cheaper in the long

run to build a new tower and meet the 21st century.

So no holes barred, I ordered some monster stuff.

64 bit dual core amd athalon chip, asus mother board,

800 watt power supply, water cooled jacket, 4 gigs of

platinum memory(Matched), two 500 gig sata hard drives,

The best video card, sound card, and video capture card

that money could buy. 2, 20x lite on dvd burners.

Not bad for a red neck Hunh?

But watcha gonna do with a monster like that? Silly.

We gonna make movies! Right. you may be thinking.

Nah, the world needs a straight up cross between the Furniture guys and Lenny Bruce to portray the joys and

pitfalls of home construction and woodworking.

See, Old geezer Bob is and was a renowned commercial

cinematographer/photographer in a earlier part of life.

And me? I'm gonna be a star.

So whatcha think?

Here is a couple of shots, notice that the Festool MFT

doubles as a computer build station.

See ya soon.

Per,
Congradulations on the 1000 post and the super computer!
I realy don't want you viewing my furniture with anything that powerful....all the screw ups will show:rolleyes:

That is like the SawStop of the computers....I bet it shuts down if you pour a glass of water or beer in the workings....just like the sawStop...just for safety:rolleyes:

That's some serious hardware you've assembled there. I built my comp a few years ago with an AMD 3200 processor on an MSI board and it has worked great. Yours is way beyond what I built mine for but it looks like you'll be set for the foreseeable future in computer power. Congrats.

Congrats on 1000.

So is the OS seeing the 4gb? or is only seeing 3GB?

Rich,

It is not fully assembled yet.

And I wish to give no one the impression I have

any idea what we are doing. But the issue you bring up,

happens when running win xp pro 32 bit on a 64 bit chip.

The apparent solution, so the system can read all the

drivers, is to create a data partition and then load xp 64x

on top of xp pro and double boot.

Please don't assume I am a geek, ruin my darn image.

What kind of water cooling set up are you using?

I have the wife's comp done and the garage one almost, and then will rebuild mine, plan on using the dual video card set up maybe and would like to go to water cooling to keep temps and noise down.

Nice system, be interesting to see with a bit of overclocking what kind of numbers you can get..:)

I are you using the disk drives as a raid set ?
Have you thought about backup , both power and data ?
