This is my first hollow form using Sorby's 200KT. Spalted beech and beall buffed.

Beautiful HF Rich! I also have the Sorby 200 KT and know that it allows for a very limited reach - which makes me wonder what size your HF is. Finish looks great - did you use an oil first and then buff or just wax? And last - any chance of a profile photo? Nice work - looking forward to seeing more from you!

Here is another shot. Sorry about the dog hair:o The form is 3" tall, 3.5" at the base and 1.5" at the opening. I sanded it to 600 grit and used the three step beall process using 2" mops. The blackened top was the result of holding the form onto the white diamond mop to long, but at least it is pleasing.

Rich.....Great 1st HF! Unique undulating form. Nice finish and gorgeous wood! That pyro'd rim adds interest to an already interesting HF!

Too cool Rich, I like the burn, sets off the rest of the woods features.

Rich, another great one there. So now you have two items to bring to the next club meeting. I will try to get you that cedar soon.

That's a great little piece. I thought the darkened rim was intentional until I read the second post. I think it is a good accent for the piece.

Big thank you to everyone for the kind comments. Since, I have been turning a little over a year the information I receive here and my local club has helped push my personal limits.

Wow... looks like an awesome first to me! You got a nice piece of wood there and you tried a very unique shape! I like the rim... I too thought that the burn was intentional! Oh, and I really like the finish... Fine job!
