I'm trying to come up with a straight forward way to make a number of stands to hold my wife's glass art. I've enclosed a drawing of a basic idea. The top will have a slot to hold the glass and then a smaller diameter slot cut deeper. The deeper slot is for a row of LEDs to light up the glass from underneath (the 7 holes are for the individual LEDs and the slot on the bottom is for the wires and resistors).

I was planning on using two router bits to cut the two slots in the top, one about 1/2" and the other about 1/4" (I need to get the LEDs and the holders that I ordered to get exact sizes). Then I thought that maybe somebody already makes a router bit with this basic profile. I've looked through a number of pretty thourough catalogs on-line (Frued, Ammana, MLCS and CMT), but I haven't found one. Have any of you seen a bit that could make this cut for me?

Thanks,

The only thing that comes to mind is this, but the smaller cutting diameter might be too small for you.

Can be done (http://patwarner.com/images/mag2.jpg)with a pair of straight bits or one with 2 different edge guide settings.
I make these slides for adjusters on fences etc, any depth, any practical length x any practical width possible. Takes 2 edge guides too keep things centered.

Doug and Pat,

Thanks for the replies. I think the Lee Valley bit was the one that I've seen in the past that made me think something like this exists. The larger diameter would be perfect, but I'm pretty sure the screw shank diameter would be too small and would require a second step, making the two bit (not 25 cents) method my best choice. Pat, I have one of your books that shows your router table fences and used that image as part of my inspiration.

Thanks again,
