Well was wandering the hills out by the ranch a couple of days ago and found a really neat old tree, was dead and had up rooted and was leaning against a pine tree.
Got to looking at it and it was a maple.
So today I went up and cut the first 5 feet out of the bottom. Kind of tough as it was about a quarter mile from any vehicle access and it was HEAVY, about 25" at the base
Finally got it to the sawmill

First slabs looked pretty good

The center cut looked even better

Now I only have about 60 more feet of it to cut and move off the mountain.
Thanks Glen for the help
Well the first attempt did not work so let's see if the links will.
Now it seems to be working. Thanks

Mike, the pics don't show. All I see is a red X in a box.

I can't even imagine the feeling you must have had standing there watching that thing get cut up. Must have been awesome.

I need to get me some woods.

Bill, the only problem when I was cutting it was their were some big knots sticking out that I really wanted to slice through but I had to cut them off so it would fit on the mill.
I hope the next few cuts on the tree will be a bit smaller so I don't have to do any trimming on it.
I also bent one blade on the mill on this one.
