Made this as a sort of wedding gift for my sister-in-law. They're planning to use it as a gift card recptacle during the wedding.

Ambrosia Maple with Turqouise Inlace to fill bug holes and decided that if I was doing that I should make an inlaid ring at the top.

9-3/4" x 3-3/4" Danish Oil and buffed.

Beautiful! Love the color, shape and accent of the inlace. It should be a real conversation piece.

When you are inlaying in a continuous ring, how do you hold the inlay material and the glue or epoxy resin in place so it doesn't run out of the groove?

epoxy resin in place so it doesn't run out of the groove?

Dave the inlace (www.inlaceonline.com (http://www.inlaceonline.com), got mine through CraftsuppliesUSA www.woodturnerscatalog.com (http://www.woodturnerscatalog.com)) is thick enough to keep it in the groove. I really think the stuff is little more than fiberglass resin with some rock bits mixed in; that's certainly what it smells like. You scoop out what you want from the main can, add some drops of hardener (MEK) mix and apply, wait till it hardens. Obviously you'll need to cut it back afterwards to make it flush.

Really easy to work with and way quicker than what I had been doing which was filling cracks and holes with thick super glue.

Looks Great! I use the inlace too on my work. It's much easier on your tools than the real stuff.:)

Bob, I am with you. I prefer to fill those worm and bug holes. This is a beauty.

Wow, that's a nice bowl and the small ring around the rim and the few bug hole fill ins are just perfect for making it interesting without overwhelming it. I really like that!
