I purchased this blank from fellow Creeker Joe Melton when I was in Colorado Springs last month. It measures 10" dia. x 4-1/2" tall and is finished with wipe on gel poly and beall buffed. The tennon broke of while hollowing but a little Titebond glue and I was back in business. As always comments/critiques are welcome. Thanks for looking.

What is this wood... it looks awesome? That green isn't natural is it?? Really wonderful hollowform and that wood is completely cool! You shoulda entered it in for the AAW symposium "Turning Green" exhibit!

Jonathan and Pete I'm sorry I didn't tell more about the wood. Anyway it is Aspen and the man that dyes them is in Pueblo, CO. He developed a process by which he dyes the trees while they are in the ground growing, before harvesting. I've been told that when he dyes them it will actually dye the leaves. He is also dyeing some hardwoods like cherry and oak but as they are slow growing it will be a while before there will be any bowl blank sizes available. I thing he does have pen blanks available.

Ya nailed another one Keith! That's interesting about the live dying process. Hmm....that could make a case against drinking grape koolaid.:p

Thanks Keith!

You learn something new every day. I only have pine trees on my property so I guess I have to inject the neighbors trees.

This is a gorgeous piece, Keith. You just keep on turning them out, don't you? I can't decide which presentation of the piece I like best--all of the pictures are wonderful and the HF is just stunning.

Matt, the tree that this blank came from was cut several years ago so it was dry.
